In the early 1980s, as membership grew, the need for a church building became increasingly evident. Eight acres of land east of Port Washington Road in Mequon were purchased in 1980. Members of the church had admired the architecture of the octagonal Clausing barns built in Ozaukee County in the 1800s, and hoped to acquire one for a church building. When that proved impractical a new "barn" was designed and built, with church members taking an active part in the finishing of the building. It was dedicated in October,1987.
With the character of the building dominating the site, the congregation voted to maintain a "natural" landscape in keeping with the rural setting. The property has been planted and maintained with this end in view. The most visible feature, the prairie circle in front of the church, was planted in 1988, with native grasses and prairie flowers. Memorial structures including the bridge, limestone bench, gazebo, and split rail fences have been added, together with many memorial and donated plantings.
To meet the needs of our growing congregation, the building was expanded in 2005.
The sanctuary and meeting rooms are available for rental during the week and on Sunday afternoons and evenings
